Got Proverbs? 15 Powerful Lessons from Book of Proverbs!

Afternoon Y'all! I pray this post encourages you and gives God glory! Got suggested topics you want me to write about? Please comment below or email me at info@mocatoday.com.

Today is September 1. Only four months left of 2020! Can you believe it!?! How are you doing? Let me know in the comments.

15 Lessons from Proverbs

During the month of August, me and a few other sisters challenged ourselves to pray regularly and read a chapter from Proverbs daily that corresponded to each day's date. I named the challenge Prayers & Proverbs Challenge and we finished it yesterday. My goals were that we develop a habit and consistently pray, read, and feed ourselves the Word of God daily.

Why?

Because Jesus desires a personal relationship with each of us! One of the ways we can enjoy a growing, healthy relationship with Him is through prayer and including Him in all areas of our lives. I recently wrote a helpful blog post on why prayer is so important and beneficial for the believer.

Overall, I really enjoyed the challenge! No matter how many times I've read the Book of Proverbs in the past, God always teaches me something new each time I read it. I especially liked studying with other sisters and spending time with God in prayer. I also identified at least 15 wise, powerful lessons from my reading.

15 Lessons from Book of Proverbs:

The beginning of godly wisdom, as opposed to worldly wisdom, is fearing (having incredible reverence and respect for) the Lord.

God is the source of righteousness and justice. We can't be just if we don't know what's right.

God hates pride and loves humility. He also rewards the humble.

We cannot hide from God. He sees it ALL.

Our character should reflect one that's quick to listen, slow to anger, and careful (or prudent) with our words.

We should pursue righteousness and avoid wickedness.

With God, there is life. With Satan, there is death.

Want friends? First, we must be a friend to have a friend.

To God, it's better to be poor and blameless, than rich and evil.

Preparation is required, but the source of our victories is the Lord.

Better to be wise and stay away from fools!

Think before you speak! Choose your words wisely!

When adversity comes, the strong ones persevere and prevail. The weak ones faint and fall.

We should ask God to give us just enough. If He allows us to get too rich, we may deny Him and forget we still need Him. If He allows us to get too poor, we may steal and bring shame to His name.

Be generous with kind words. You never know what's really going on behind a person's "happy" exterior.

Remember, it's all about progression, not perfection! God loves you! With Him, you got this! Until next post, may God give you His peace and blessings!
