Farewell 2020! We made it!

Afternoon Y'all! I pray this post encourages you and gives God glory! Got suggested topics you want me to write about? Please comment below or email me at info@mocatoday.com.

Today is the last Tuesday of 2020! Can you believe it?!? One of my 2020 "highs" is the gift of MoCA Today! Thank you for supporting this growing platform and encouragement to keep writing and sharing. It has truly been a privilege and honor to serve!

Closing out this decade, let us first give thanks to Jesus Christ for all that He has done and doing in our lives! Second, let's revisit the Top 10 Most Viewed Blog Posts of 2020:

Safe to assume God is showing us some things. I believe God is using such a time as this to reveal and confirm the following:

  • We have no control.

  • God is sovereign and above all things.

  • God can take what was meant for evil purposes and use it for our good.

  • Never take life and God's grace for granted.

38 life lessons I've learned over the years and sharing with you!

There are thoughts and habits I want to continue after this season:

  • God and the things of God must always be my first priority.

  • I will trust God in and with all things.

  • I'm now convinced that a simpler lifestyle actually returns a fuller, more enjoyable life.

  • Staying connected to friends and family matters.

  • I must protect my thoughts and ways of thinking.

Literally overnight, God gave me a new perspective! I went to bed with a doom-and-gloom perspective (or point of view) and woke up the next day with a totally different perspective... That's right! God gifted me a fresh outlook, a new way of thinking that declared— "My ability to successfully get through or overcome my current circumstances all depends on the perspective I choose to have."

Just as counterfeits exist in the world, the same exists within Christian circles. We can unknowingly find ourselves getting involved with something and/or someone that is opposed to God and His teachings. This returns serious bad consequences, as it could lead us down a terrible path of bondage or willful sin.

If our goal is to live a life that's pleasing to God, self-control must be practiced, and we can't exercise it the way God wills apart from the Holy Spirit. In other words, self-control is the exclusive work of the Holy Spirit, not from our own works. I'm also saying one visible difference between us and the rest of the world should be consistent self-control, no matter the circumstance.

Heard about using the power of manifestation to make your wildest dreams come true? Should Christians stop manifesting? We discuss three reasons why manifesting is ungodly.

Did you know our character, good or bad, lasts forever and determines the choices we make? And, all of our choices have eternal consequences?

Is Paul commanding believers do nothing with their lives except pray incessantly? No, of course not! Instead, Paul is commanding we always rejoice, give thanks in everything, and regularly commune with God in spirit throughout every aspect of our daily lives.

There should be a difference between how Christians handle world affairs versus non-Christians. If we're Christ's ambassadors first, know God's eternal truths, and the Holy Spirit indwells in us. Then, how we think about and respond to world matters, especially world matters that intimately affect us, should look different.

Now, as we gear up for 2021, I can't wait to see where and how God leads us!

I'm sure many of you are thinking about 2021 goals and aspirations... This is awesome! It's always a good thing to seek God for guidance and discernment (Proverbs 15:14, James 1:5). However, just remember— Don't fall into the snare of practicing manifestation. (I share why Christians shouldn't in a previous blog post.) Instead, choose biblical affirmations and practice placing your total faith, trust, and hope in Jesus Christ only.

I pray 2021 is a fruitful year where we:

  • Continue to intimately know God (Proverbs 8:17, Jeremiah 9:23-24, 2 Peter 3:18)

  • Allow the Holy Spirit to increase in us (Galatians 5:16)

  • Mature in being faithful servants, Christ ambassadors (Matthew 25:21, 2 Corinthians 5)

What's your prayer for 2021?

Happy New Year! You made it!
