3 Reasons God is Making You Wait!

Afternoon Y'all! I pray this post encourages you and gives God glory! Got suggested topics you want me to write about? Please comment below or email me at info@mocatoday.com.

I took today off because I was expecting something really special for my family and I to finally arrive after waiting for years. But yesterday evening, I was notified that the delivery will be delayed a few more days... And now after I processed the initial shock and disappointment, I'm back to waiting... Yep, I'm back to being completely dependent on God's timing and His Will to deliver what I've been long waiting for.

Do you find yourself in a waiting season with God too? Are you waiting for God to answer a prayer? Waiting for God to give you next steps on a matter?

If so, you're not alone. I've been in similar seasons many times throughout my life and I've found there's at least three reasons why God may be making you wait.

3 Reasons Why God is Making You Wait:

  • It's simply not God's timing yet. There's a time (or season) for everything. And it just may not be God's timing yet. Remember, God's ways and our ways are different.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. ~Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (KJV)

In other words, most times (because we're usually inpatient), our timing and God's timing are not the same... Nonetheless, we are called to give Jesus Christ full authority over our lives and allow His timing to reign over ours.

Why?

Because ultimately, God knows best! God is the only one that knows the beginning and the end. He is the only one that sees the entire picture; those many things that are both seen and unseen.

  • God wants to strengthen your patience and grow your faith in Him. We don't know how patient we are until our patience is genuinely tested. And we often don't how to practically depend on God and keep our faith in Him until we HAVE to.

Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing. ~James 1:2-4 (AMP)
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. ~1 Peter 5:10 (ESV)
  • You may be waiting for something that is not God's will for you. I can't tell you how many times I've been waiting on God for something only to later discern (Thank you Holy Spirit!) or learn from studying the Bible that what I was waiting for was either disliked (or detestable) to God or was not His Will for me in the first place... Therefore, I was waiting for something that God would never be the author of bringing into my life no matter how long I waited and kept asking for it.

Overall, waiting seasons can certainly be difficult and challenging. But they are not bad. Instead, they are incredible opportunities to grow with Jesus Christ and practice trusting God's timing and dependence on Him. So hang in there and hold on friends!

Please know God never wastes a wait.

Remember, it's about progression not perfection!

God loves you! With Him, you got this!

Until next post, may God give you His peace and blessings!
